Step by step process to change a car’s transmission fluid on a regular basis

Step 1:  The first and foremost thing that you need to do is elevate your car. As most of the people do not have access to a hydraulic life, ramps or jacks stands are your most appropriate alternatives here.

Step 2:  You need to drain the fluid. When the engine is turned off, you would like to look under your car and then locate the transmission pan. Bear in mind that it should be held up by 6 or 8 bolts and you will remove them in order to drain off the fluid.

Step 3:  This step involves cleaning of the transmission pan. You need to check the pan for excessive metal particles or shavings which could symbolize transmission problems, but if you have taken good auto care for your transmission, then that will not be a problem.

Step 4: This step involves the replacement of the filter. This is very important step since the filter helps in trapping all the contaminants and dirt that your fluid comes into contact with. If it is left to cycle around your transmission, then these contaminants can cause lots of damage.

Step 5:  This step involves reinstallation of the transmission pan. After the replacement of the filter you can either re-apply the gasket or replace the gasket if it is worn and old. Ensure that the gasket remains aligned in proper way so that no fluid is able to escape.

Step 6: This step involves addition of new transmission fluid, which you must have bought before. Ensure that the fluid is the specific thing in the owner’s manual and you will need enough for matching the fluid which you took out.
